Ever wondered what untold stories lie hidden within your antique and vintage jewellery? At our latest Antique Jewellery Roadshow, guests had the rare opportunity to meet with Gerard, Justin and our team of antiques experts to uncover the fascinating histories behind their antique heirlooms and vintage treasures.
Following the success of our first event held during South Australia’s History Festival in June, we were delighted to host our second Roadshow on Friday 17 October at our Adelaide Arcade boutique - and what a day it was!
Guests rummaged through their jewellery boxes and wardrobe cupboards, dusted off their forgotten family keepsakes and intriguing op shop finds, and brought them into our Adelaide Arcade boutique. Whether they were simply curious or seeking to sell, visitors met with Gerard, Justin and our team of antique jewellery specialists for personal 30-minute consultations, where each jewel was examined for its craftsmanship, age, materials and story.
A DAY OF JEWELLERY DISCOVERY
Throughout the day, our boutique was filled with a sense of discovery: enlightening conversations, quiet gasps of surprise, and the unmistakable glint of something meaningful being uncovered.
Some guests were surprised to learn just how old their pieces really were, while others discovered they’d been wearing rare antiques without ever realising it. One of the most rewarding parts of the day was seeing the joy and curiosity on people’s faces as they reconnected with the stories behind their family treasures.
One highlight of the day was an extraordinary half hunter pocket watch crafted by Edward Dent, the renowned clockmaker behind Big Ben. Another guest arrived with a fine collection of Victorian-era gold brooches, each one a miniature work of art. We also had the pleasure of examining a glamorous diamond cocktail wristwatch and a charm bracelet adorned with a fascinating mix of wax seal charms.
“It's always fascinating to see the personal stories and history attached to each item, and how much these pieces mean to their owners. I particularly enjoyed the enthusiasm and curiosity of everyone who attended.” - Gerard McCabe, Founder
