TWO SA ICONS JOIN FORCES: SA MUSEUM & GERARD MCCABE JEWELLERS

Design Inspiration, News & Announcements Posted by Gerard McCabe on 21/11/2017

Gerard McCabe is a local, South Australian, family business with four generations of experience in fine jewellery. Much of our design inspiration comes from our heritage, local stories and our environment. Gerard McCabe is Adelaide’s premier diamond jeweller and specialises in engagement rings, wedding rings and anniversary jewellery. We also develop contemporary jewellery designs featuring diamonds, coloured diamonds, pearls and natural gemstones.

Fine jewellery is more than my business, it is truly my passion. Selecting amazing gems from around the world and telling stories through design is what I love to do – Gerard McCabe

In 1993, Gerard had the pleasure of valuing the Echunga diamonds held by the Museum and the Mines Department. This piqued our interest in the valuable resources our state has to offer, and the local treasures that are stored here in the museum.

We had the pleasure of being involved in a small way in the groundbreaking opal exhibition in 2015, which was an unparalleled display of opals never seen in the world before.

I’m delighted to be involved with such an iconic institution. It was such a thrill as a youngster to visit the museum. I never would have thought I would be invited to exhibit in the museum except as a relic one day- Gerard McCabe

We are honoured to represent South Australia as the chosen jeweller in the SA Museum gift shop. We want to thank the Hon. Dr Jane Lomax-Smith, SAM Chair, Dr Mary Sutherland, SAM Foundation Chair, and Mr Brian Oldman, Director of the Museum for this wonderful opportunity.

Customers and tourists will be able to purchase well-known Gerard McCabe collections at the museum including the Echunga coloured diamond collection, Luminosity pearl collection, Opalescence opal collection, our South Australian carved jewellery and the Kaleidoscope sapphire collection. Each collection has been specially selected for the museum because of its connection to the natural world and new collections will be introduced from time to time. If you purchase a Gerard McCabe piece in the Museum gift shop, part proceeds will go towards the South Australian Museum Foundation.

We look forward to welcoming you to our newest store. Gerard McCabe’s mini store at the South Australian Museum is now open.
