What happens when I make an Antique Consultation appointment?
If a booking is made online, our sales team will welcome you in store to our Adelaide Arcade boutique. From there, they’ll introduce you to our wide collection of antique and period jewellery - an extensive range that’ll impress all. Since Gerard McCabe started out by selling antiques, the passion in our stores is as alive as it ever has been, with his love and adoration for these pieces evident in the variety on show.

What sort of pieces should I expect to see?
Generally, our Antique and Period pieces are 100 years old or more. With a wide variety of memorial, suffragette, Edwardian and Georgian styles, amongst many others, our team will guide you through the range and show you what is available, and the history behind each and every piece.

Do these pieces come with some sort of authentication?
All pieces available at Gerard McCabe Jewellers comes with a jewellery certificate and full description. This often includes the age of the piece and any important hallmarks/stamps.
What if I bring in my own piece? What does the Antique Consultation offer?
If you’re bringing in a personal piece, we can check over your items, check settings are safe and lightly clean if needed to ensure the piece can be safely worn. Our experienced team can also advise as to whether they think it is costume jewellery or something that should be valued and insured.
Can you bring my heirloom back to its former glory?
On request, we also offer a no obligation quote to restore your jewellery to its original shine, so that it may be worn and enjoyed once more. Gerard McCabe Jewellers are antique specialists, and our clients are always blown away by the quality of workmanship when restoring their favourite pieces.
Can you value my antique jewellery?
It’s important to ensure your jewellery is properly valued for insurance purposes, and for your own personal information. At Gerard McCabe, we offer a certified valuation that is appropriate for an insurance quote and will properly advise you on how and where you should be storing your special piece. This proper assessment will also give you the opportunity to fix any issues before they progress and become a bigger problem. This valuation can be booked here.

This valuation process normally takes two weeks, but this time frame is dependent on demand within our workshop. A timeframe is normally given when your piece is handed into one of our Adelaide boutiques.
