Award-winning Adelaide jeweller, Gerard McCabe, is thrilled to announce it is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and to celebrate this milestone are inviting their customers past and present to share their meaningful and sentimental stories connected to their Gerard McCabe precious pieces.
The stories will form part of a year-long campaign, and an exhibition in May at its Adelaide Arcade store, highlighting the strong role fine jewellery can play in everyday lives, from engagements, weddings, and anniversaries, to family heirlooms, birthdays and other special occasions.
Founder, Gerard McCabe, said, “Pieces of jewellery are enriched with stories and history. Some are passed down generations as family heirlooms, while others mark pivotal life moments. After four decades in business, we want to uncover them. We hope to hear the stories of the role they have played in our customers' lives.
“By long association in the business, we know not only our trade but our customers and our beautiful city down to the bones. As well as providing careful attention and expertise, we’ve also had the privilege of being part of our customers’ most special moments, which we would love to share as part of our 40 year celebrations,” Gerard continued.
The milestone anniversary will officially be marked in April, followed by a whole calendar of celebrations throughout 2026, marking 40 years of achievements and innovation, and more broadly, Gerard McCabe’s family legacy.
The McCabe family has been involved in the service and retail industries since 1878 when their forebearers operated McCabe Tailors in Hindley Street, created by Gerard’s great-great grandfather, Patrick. Over the next 100 years, the McCabe family trade evolved from tailoring to jewellery manufacturing and retail.
Gerard, with his wife Pauline, followed the footsteps of generations before them and opened Gerard McCabe Jewellers on April 1, 1986. Gerard’s eldest children, Jessica and Justin, continue the family legacy.
The proud South Australian family business has flagship stores in Adelaide Arcade and Rundle Mall and has gained a reputation for curating one of Australia’s finest contemporary and antique jewellery collections.
Gerard, Jessica and Justin encourage past and present customers to take part in the milestone, “we really are encouraging anyone who has purchased from us throughout the years to take part and have their stories recognised as part of this significant milestone.
